Ready, Set, Go!

Ready, Set, Go! is dedicated to nurturing children’s innate curiosity and joy in learning, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.

Our 4th floor classroom serves as a home base and a true “learning lab”, offering a balance of experiences including sensory, gross and fine motor, early literacy, and math skills, along with/as well as dramatic play, music, and visual arts.

We employ a collaborative emergent curriculum, based in play and built on the children’s interests and skills.

Guided investigations serve to support children’s active participation in the process of discovery, making the classroom experience exciting, dynamic, and meaningful.

A low teacher-child ratio allows for a nurturing environment where activities are differentiated for each child. We foster growing independence and creativity with open-ended materials, which challenge and inspire the children to become innovators of their own play and learning process.

Throughout the week, children have access to our art studio, full-sized gym, green roof, and 5th-floor indoor playground. The class also enjoys group outings year-round; going on selected trips around the neighborhood and also spending quality time in both Riverside and Central Parks.

On My Own

Two-year-olds get a gentle transition to drop-off in our nurturing On My Own program. We work with children based on their readiness and needs, with the goal of enabling children to feel comfortable and confident “on my own.”

We guide children through the process of beginning to learn important social skills: using words to express their feelings or needs, taking turns, and more. Close connections with warm and caring teachers provide children with the sense of trust and security they need to build their sense of independence, try new things, express themselves and their ideas, and manage their feelings.

The design of the classroom lets children guide their own experiences and feel a sense of safety and mastery. We offer open-ended materials and hands-on activities including the sensory table, easels for daily painting, our busy kitchen area, block building, and the discovery center, and allow children the time and space to explore at their own pace.  Our classroom routines also include circle time, stories, snack, and active play.

Children enrolled in the On My Own program in September can attend the On My Own Summer Preview program in July, where they attend class two or three times a week for an hour with a trusted grown-up.
